Fizz Wi-Fi Calling Now Works on Android: Galaxy S26, Z Flip8/Fold8, TCL, Motorola + S25 Reports After One UI 9 (October 2026)

Short answer: yes, Fizz Wi-Fi Calling now works on some Android phones

As of October 31, 2026, Fizz's official Wi-Fi Calling FAQ lists these Android phones as supported: the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the TCL 60 XE, K70 XE and K70 NP, and the Motorola Edge 2025. On the Apple side, the list covers the iPhone 11 and newer and the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), all with iOS 27.

Fizz says Wi-Fi Calling is being rolled out gradually to compatible devices. On top of the official list, Fizz members report that Wi-Fi Calling now activates on other Samsung Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy S25, S25 FE and S23, after updating to One UI 9 / Android 17, even though those models aren't on Fizz's list yet. Those are member reports, not official support, so your mileage may vary.

"Not yet" means a member said it wasn't working for them on that date. Since Fizz is rolling the feature out gradually, that can change at any time, so check your own phone.

What Fizz members are reporting

Here's how the Android rollout has looked from the community side:

  • check_circle Galaxy S26, early October. In a Fizz Community thread started on October 5, a member said the Wi-Fi Calling option appeared in the Phone app settings right after the One UI 9 update, but the first activation attempt failed with a "try again later" message. At the time, members noted that Fizz's FAQ only listed Samsung's Flip models. On October 6, a new attempt worked: the member got a notice that activation can take up to 5 minutes, then found Wi-Fi Calling turned on and set up their 911 emergency address. Another member confirmed it working on their own S26.
  • check_circle Galaxy S25 and S23, October 25. In the same thread and in the Community's Wi-Fi Calling announcement thread, one member said it worked on a Galaxy S25 after installing One UI 9, and another said it now works on their Galaxy S23 after installing Android 17. On October 22, a Galaxy S24 owner on One UI 9 said it still wasn't available for them.
  • check_circle Galaxy S25 FE, October 30. On r/FizzMobile, a member who bought an S25 FE from Fizz in July said the Wi-Fi Calling option suddenly showed up and they could turn it on, even though the phone isn't on Fizz's compatible list. Another member confirmed it working on a Galaxy S25, while others said it wasn't working yet on a Pixel 9a or a Galaxy S23 FE.

Bottom line: if you have a recent Samsung Galaxy, install the latest software update and check for the Wi-Fi Calling toggle, even if your model isn't on Fizz's list. Just don't count on it until it works on your phone.

How to turn on Wi-Fi Calling with Fizz on Android

Fizz's FAQ says that to activate Wi-Fi Calling for the first time, your phone must be connected to the Fizz mobile network, be VoLTE-certified in Canada, and use a VoLTE-compatible SIM card or an eSIM. Then:

  • 1. Update your phone's operating system.
  • 2. Turn on VoLTE.
  • 3. Follow the steps for your phone:

Samsung Galaxy

  • 1. Open the Phone app.
  • 2. Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • 3. Select Settings.
  • 4. Turn on Wi-Fi Calling.

Other Android phones (TCL, Motorola, etc.)

  • 1. Open Settings.
  • 2. Select Network & Internet or Mobile Networks.
  • 3. Depending on your phone, select Mobile Data, Mobile Network, or SIM Cards > Fizz.
  • 4. Select Wi-Fi Calling and use the toggle to turn it on.

Then set your emergency address. In your phone's Wi-Fi Calling settings, choose Emergency Address (or Update Emergency Address). Fizz says that if you call 911 over Wi-Fi, emergency services use that address to locate you, and it's your responsibility to keep it current when you travel. To have 911 use the cellular network instead, turn off Wi-Fi before placing the call.

If the first attempt fails, members' experience suggests waiting a few minutes and trying again. If it still won't activate, check the troubleshooting points below. Having trouble with VoLTE itself? See our Fizz VoLTE and emergency calls fix.

The fine print: what Fizz's FAQ says

  • check_circle Free: Wi-Fi Calling is offered at no extra charge to Fizz customers with a compatible device. You need to turn it on in your device settings and accept the service terms.
  • check_circle Where it works: in Canada and the United States with an eligible plan. A Canada/US plan is required to use it in the US.
  • check_circle Not overseas (yet): the service isn't available outside Canada and the US for now. If you use an International Voice Add-On, Fizz says to turn off Wi-Fi Calling before placing international calls.
  • check_circle Minutes still count: if your plan doesn't include unlimited minutes, Wi-Fi calls are deducted from your plan's minutes or your Voice Add-On.
  • check_circle Data: calls and picture/video messages over Wi-Fi use the internet data of whoever provides the Wi-Fi connection.
  • check_circle Not guaranteed everywhere: it may work on trains, buses, planes or boats, but performance isn't guaranteed, and some public venues (hotels, restaurants) block voice calls on their Wi-Fi.
  • check_circle BYOD: if you bring your own phone, only devices certified for use in Canada are compatible.

Wi-Fi Calling not working? Quick checklist

Based on Fizz's troubleshooting steps:

  • 1. Is your phone on the latest software version?
  • 2. Is VoLTE turned on, and is your phone VoLTE-compatible on Fizz?
  • 3. Are you using a VoLTE-compatible SIM card or an eSIM? Older physical SIMs may need replacing.
  • 4. Is your phone a Canadian-certified model (if you brought your own)?
  • 5. Is your Wi-Fi connection stable?
  • 6. Is your model on the official list? If not, it may simply not be enabled on Fizz's side yet. The rollout is gradual.

Summary

Fizz Wi-Fi Calling has moved beyond the iPhone. As of October 31, 2026, Fizz's FAQ officially lists the Galaxy S26, Z Flip8, Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, TCL 60 XE / K70 XE / K70 NP and Motorola Edge 2025, plus the iPhone 11 and newer and iPhone SE 2/3 on iOS 27. Members also report it working on the Galaxy S25, S25 FE and S23 after One UI 9 / Android 17, though those aren't officially supported yet. It's free, works in Canada and the US, needs VoLTE and a VoLTE SIM or eSIM, and still uses plan minutes if yours aren't unlimited. Update your phone, look for the toggle in the Phone app settings, set your 911 address, and use code STOJ4 if you're joining Fizz.
